When I was in Mexico, I (along with all the other girls and women I was with) became totally obsessed with all of the colourful friendship bracelets for sale everywhere. We would spend forever browsing through the neverending piles, searching for ideal colour combinations and patterns, then layering them up our arms. In high school I used to layer woven bracelets on every summer, but I hadn't worn any for the past few years. There's just something about friendship bracelets that is so nostalgic- for warmer days and time past. They are actually a really cool way to add colour, and can look much more sophisticated than you may think when layered with other bracelets. We all found them really inspiring while on vacation, and now that I'm home I'm looking for new ways to wear them with my non-holiday cold-weather wardrobe. I definitely like them with some simply metallic strands or thin bracelets in solid colours, to create a unique combination. American Eagle has a cool selection of woven bracelets with a bit of a twist. I love the one in the middle below, and I think it would look really good layered with the other simple bracelets.

- From Banana Republic: $12.99
