In mid-September we attended a beautiful wedding in Whistler, and enjoyed the last of the amazing summer weather. My shoes were actually from The Bay on crazy sale, but they are no longer available online. I finally picked up this Clare Vivier clutch that I've been wanting for a year, and I'm so happy that I did, it's the best!
All I want to wear right now is black jeans with knit sweaters, short boots, and dark nail polish. It's such a great time of year for getting dressed and I love that outfits like this feel so easy but just right.
Dream outfits definitely fall on the sassier side of my taste...in reality I would probably wear this top with jeans or a black skirt, but holy, I would wear it nonstop! Autumn is really the glory days for clothing, but definitely not the glory days for my chequing account.
Josh and I have a large collection of similar clothing...very large. Early on, our mornings involved phrases like "Oh, you're wearing a white oxford underneath of a grey crewneck sweater? Guess I have to come up with a new outfit..." and "Ugh, I can't wear my cream Converse today if you are too." For our Christmas card last year we took a bunch of photos of us in all of our matching outfits. I always thought the photos were too dorky to show anyone except our grandparents, but oh well! I've spoken with other couples who are in a similar position wardrobe-wise, which doesn't surprise me as I know so many cool ladies who sport classics and menswear basics. Any items we're wearing that I couldn't find online, I've substituted with similar pieces.
The series of events is simple and predictable: I see tons of cool chicks in lookbooks, on blogs, and in real life and that inspire me with their clothing and styling, and I start to get really excited about getting dressed the next day. When the morning comes, my mind is devoid of any and all outfit ideas. I am now going to make sure to collect photos of my favourite looks and stylish ladies, which will hopefully help stop this problem (and maybe start drinking coffee before getting dressed).
