This editorial from the Marie Claire October 2011 issue is one of my favourites this autumn. It's just beautiful and I love the overall look and feel, which are the main things that draw me to editorials (more so than the actual clothing items).
I am in the habit of gathering images of cozy things lately- perfect for this time of year. You can see that collection on my Pinterest account if you too have a fetish for knits and fleeces.
It's been a long time since I laughed in a movie as much as I did during Bridesmaids. Not only is Kristen Wiig a comedic genius (a long established fact) who is brilliant in this movie, but her character has an amazing wardrobe. It's rare to see a movie character wearing such stylish, current clothing and pieces that look like they came from a real woman's closet. I loved the small details, like how she always had red nail polish and wore the same jewelry throughout the entire film- a delicate gold necklace with a small pendant, skinny gold rings on a few different fingers, and a bracelet on her left wrist. The stripes, summer dresses paired with various blazers, comfy tops and jeans are all perfect, and I've been finding myself blatantly copying some her outfits this week. Here are some pieces to achieve a similar look:
To summarize- Kristen Wiig is amazing, and you have to see Bridesmaids not only for the hilarity and great story but also for the clothes.
Oh and in case you haven't seen yet- J.Crew just released their June 2011 catalogue and it's almost too good to be true. It always makes my day (okay let's be honest- week) when their new catalogue comes out every month :)
Have a nice weekend and Canadians- have a great May 2-4!
The genius of J.Crew never ceases to amaze me. They have an unparalleled ability to make me completely change my opinion on styles, clothing items, and colours. Never a fan of orange, I found myself entranced by these images in this series featuring the gorgeous ladies Lauren Hutton and Mirabelle Marden. I fell in love with this men's sweatshirt and its faded orange colour. While in California, I luckily found the sweatshirt in my size J.Crew- it was the last one in the store and keeps selling out online! It is so perfect, I love it. Here are some other items in this lovely hue:
I love how J.Crew styles the sweatshirt with light denim and stacked bracelets, and that's how I've been wearing it.
The DKNY Fall 2011 RTW Collection is one of my favourites of fashion week so far. Of course I love all the stripes, and I'm really drawn to the bold colour-blocking, simple shapes, and the cerise, pinks and black. It reminds me of Sonia Rykiel, in a really good way. The collection also seems really wearable, and the colours and styles can definitely be incorporated into my current winter wardrobe. That's the nice things about a lot of the Fall shows- the items shown are appropriate for the current February weather and can serve as great current inspiration, not just for the upcoming seasons. I pulled together some affordable pieces inspired by the look of this show.
My apologies for the J.Crew catalogue overload...but really, I couldn't edit these down. The new J.Crew February catalogue Hollywood Issue is ridiculously gorgeous- even more so than usual. Hollywood locations, lots of stripes, casual and classic glamour, and my all-time favourite model Mona Johannesson...it's pretty close to perfect. I know that winter is getting to me when a store catalogue can bring me this much joy. But isn't it amazing? Here are some of my favourite new pieces:
I'm looking forward to the weekend- my friends and I are heading into the city and seeing Joshua Radin in concert! I hope that you have a wonderful weekend.
