Summer sandals + cropped pants

 

This weekend has been so hot- it's amazing! But I always find it harder to dress for hot weather because you can't wear too many items. It's easier to put together a cool outfit when you can have lots of layers, and harder to get it right with just a few pieces. I love casual cropped pants like these worn with a tank, and a vest to add something extra. I saw these sandals this weekend and think they are great and so versatile. The light nail polish and bracelets add a bit of girliness. Right now is a great time to shop for summer stuff because so many stores are already having summer sales.

When you were young II

 

Here is another one of the old photos I found while looking through albums. Me at age 5, on a typical suburban day. Another pure-nineties outfit. According to my mom I was wearing that hat as a joke- it is pretty crazy. I love how I have pretty much the exact same hairstyle now as I did when I was little- brown with home-cut bangs. But again, I love and am inspired by this outfit- here is how I would wear it now:

Hello + a few disposables

 

Just wanted to say a quick hello, and wish you a great weekend! :) I got more disposable camera photos back- most of them didn't turn out but I posted a few over on my Flickr. I can't believe how crazy the photos are- these tulips look so bright and surreal! I am now in California for the summer so we don't have our long weekend until next weekend- but happy May 2-4 Canadians! I hope you have gorgeous weather and lots of good times. 

Classics for Late Spring

 

Here is just another little outfit post. Is the weather still all over the place where you are? How is one supposed to know what to wear when it is freezing in the morning and sweltering in the afternoon? A classic white shirt is always good, because when it gets warm, you can just roll up the sleeves. And they are pretty much guaranteed to look great. I think it's important to invest in a good white shirt, like this one from J.Crew (I have one from there and it's the best). Shorts are always tricky- just make sure to pick some that are flattering, appropriate and not too short. I have yet to find the perfect purse- I want one with a long cross-body strap, but that is big enough to keep a lot of things in, and to fit a notebook. It is so hard to find one! The other day my 10 year old sister was wearing white Converse and they looked amazing- I really want a pair now! My grey ones are getting boring, and the white looks so good for summer- I love them with bare legs and no socks. As I was writing this post I actually came across this photo- there you have it- proof of how good it looks!

Summer Outfit II

 

Hello! Sorry I have been absent for a while- I spent my first bit of summer visiting with family and friends! I still have yet to experience real summer weather...but so close! I centred this outfit around these sandals, which I love, want, and need. To me, they are perfect. They would go with anything, and aren't too high (a critical characteristic for me). I like how this look is simple but stylish- it would be great for a casual summer day.
